Linux Mint 14 -MATE Desktop-

Linux Mint is an Ubuntu-based distribution whose goal is to provide a more complete out-of-the-box experience by including browser plugins, media codecs, support for DVD playback, Java and other components. It also adds a custom desktop and menus, several unique configuration tools, and a web-based package installation interface. Linux Mint is compatible with Ubuntu software repositories.

Tiny Core is:
Very Small. At 10 megabytes, Tiny Core is 1/400 to 1/100 the size of the most widely used operating systems in the world (even compared to most Linux distros). That makes Tiny Core flexible enough to be stored and run from usb sticks, a just-about-full CD, or even embedded devices. hardware.

Arch Linux 2012.11.01

Arch Linux is an independently developed, i686- and x86_64 optimised Linux distribution targeted at competent Linux users. Using 'pacman', the home grown package manager, to provide updates to the latest software applications w/dependency tracking. Using a rolling release system, Arch can be installed from a CD image or via an FTP server. The default install provides a base that enables users to create a custom installation. In addition, the Arch Build System (ABS) provides a way to easily build new packages, modify the config of stock packages, and share these packages with other users via the Arch Linux user repository.

Whats New?
This release mainly contains minor bug fixes, cleanups and new packages compared to the previous one: first media with Linux kernel 3.6; copytoram=n can be used to not copy the image to RAM on network boot - this is probably unreliable but an option for systems with very low memory; cowfile_size boot parameter mainly for persistent COW on VFAT.

DEFT Linux 7.2

DEFT (Digital Evidence & Forensic Toolkit) is a customised distribution of the Ubuntu live Linux CD. It is an easy-to-use system that includes excellent hardware detection and some great open-source applications focused on incident response and computer forensics.

Absolute Linux 14.0

Absolute Linux is a light-weight modded version of Slackware Linux. It includes utilities that make configuration/maintenance easier and it has many common desktop and internet applications installed and configured with seamless integration of menus, applications and MIME types. Absolute Linux uses IceWM and ROX for its window and file managers.

Absolute has moved away from udisks to use the lighter SpaceFM file manager, which takes advantage of native kernel polling. Absolute will run fast on modest hardware. NetworkManager manages internet connections by default. Java and multimedia add-ons need to be installed (via system tools, as root) after installation. The Chrome browser is now the default (taking the place of chromium and/or Firefox). The Chrome browser comes with a more up-to-date Flash release than what is available as a generic plugin for Linux machines.

GeeXboX 3.0

GeeXboX is a free and open-source media centre oriented Linux distribution for embedded devices and desktop computers. It is a full-featured operating system that can be booted from a live CD, a USB key, an SD/MMC card or it can be installed on a regular hard disk drive. The GeeXboX distribution is lightweight and designed for one single goal - to embed all major multimedia applications in order to turn any computer into a home theatre personal computer.

GeeXboX 3.0 is a major upgrade that integrates XBMC 11 'Eden' and adds the long requested PVR functionality. This means that you can finally use GeeXboX to watch and record live TV. In addition to our usual x86 ISO images, this release is also available for several embedded platforms, with working Full HD video and graphics acceleration for most of them.

Sabayon Linux is a Gentoo-based linux distro which follows the 'works out of the box' philosophy, giving the user a wide number of applications that are ready for use and a self configured operating system. Sabayon offers an easy to use workspace with a modern look, good hardware detection and a large number of up to date software packages installed by default, with additional software available from a repository. Sabayon is available in several flavors featuring respectively the KDE, GNOME, LXDE, Xfce and Enlightenment desktop environments.

Lightweight Portable Security (LPS) is a Linux-based live CD with a goal of allowing users to work on a computer without the risk of exposing their credentials and private data to malware, key loggers and other Internet-era ills. It includes a minimal set of applications and utilities, such as the Firefox web browser or an encryption wizard for encrypting and decrypting personal files. The live CD is a product produced by the United States of America's Department of Defense and is part of that organization's Software Protection Initiative.

PCLinuxOS 2012.09 "KDE FullMonty"

PCLinuxOS "KDE Full Monty" edition, the project's Linux distribution with a special desktop layout and a large number of applications.

PCLinuxOS is a user-friendly Linux distribution with out-of-the-box support for many popular graphics and sound cards, as well as other peripheral devices. Macpup 529

Macpup is a minimalist desktop Linux distribution based on Puppy Linux. It uses Enlightenment as the default window manager and provides a user interface similar to that of Apple's Mac OS X.

Macpup 529 is based on 'Precise' Puppy 5.2.60, an official 'Woof' build of puppy Linux that is binary-compatible with Ubuntu 'Precise' packages. It contains all the applications from 'Precise' Puppy with the addition of Firefox 14.0.1. Macpup 529 also includes the Enlightenment E17 window manager. The EFL libraries version 1.2.0 and E17 version 71440 where compiled and installed from source. To keep your CPU cool and your fan quiet use the CPU Frequency Scaling Tool. The first time you run Macpup, the system will be running totally in RAM.

antiX 12 (full)

antiX 12 is a fast, lightweight and easy-to-install Linux live CD distribution based on Debian's "Testing" branch for x86 compatible systems. antiX offers users the "antiX Magic" in an environment suitable for old computers. The goal of antiX is to provide a light, but fully functional and flexible free operating system for both newcomers and experienced users of Linux. It should run on most computers, ranging from 64 MB old PII 266 systems with pre-configured 128 MB swap to the latest powerful boxes. 128 MB RAM is recommended minimum for antiX. The installer needs minimum 2.2 GB hard disk size. antiX can also be used as a fast-booting rescue CD.

Toorox 08.2012 (XFCE)
Toorox is a Linux Live-DVD based on Gentoo that starts as a bootable media using KNOPPIX technology.
While the system is booting, all necessary drivers will be included automatically (lshwd). Toorox is only using the memory and an existing swap partition at runtime, so your hard disks won't be touched by default.

What's New?
This release is based on Linux kernel 3.3.8-gentoo and contains the latest Xfce desktop environment, version 4.10. Compiz has been built into the Xfce edition for a little bit eye candy.
